Hey guys. You'll now find regular status updates at the top of the forum from the ICWXP Facebook.

I do have some bad news, however. It's been a real slow year here, as you can tell. We've had lots of staff loses and the truth of the matter is there's only one man on duty at the moment to put Episode 4 through post production, and that's Rikk.

With getting the At the Left Hand of God's album produced and released (and the subsequent music video and documentary), touring and college, it's been extremely difficult for Rikk to schedule studio time.

But we assure you he's in there plugging away every moment he can be for the show.

Re-riff an MST3K film

I'd like to see what the ICW:XP boys can do with a movie that MST3K has riffed. I'm sure there's plenty of Public Domain films they did in their 11 year run so choices should be plenty. Or maybe a short they did, if they don't want to do an entire film. I'd just like to see what they can do with something MST already did lol. See what the new riffs would be from the fresh minds of ICW:XP.

On Crazy Killers and Striped-shirt Minions

I started watching MST3K's Bloodlust when a thought came to me.

Both the movie "Bloodlust" and the (for lack of a better word) film "The Bloody Pit of Horror" are about a crazed killer with sadistic tendency.

Both antagonists live all alone...except for their captive victims...and a bunch of burly, nearly identical minions wearing tight striped shirts.

Both stories are heavily dependent upon the highly loyal, nearly mute, amoral henchmen.

In both cases, there is no explanation offered as to why these guys work for the crazed killer, or why they don't fall prey to the homocidal impulses that make cohabitation with non-striped-shirt people possible. Perhaps it's possible that the crazed killers pay them well (at least the killer in Bloodlust was established as a wealthy man), but it's never stated, or even strongly implied. Perhaps the desire not to ruin a form-fitting striped red shirt is the only thing that can emotionally upset a sociopath?

Can anyone else think of explanations for this phenomena, or other examples in film where it crops up? Does the "totally loyal, largely amoral body of henchmen, usually serving a total hermit-like misanthrope and/or homocidal maniac" archetype/plot device turn up in other non-striped shirt examples that you can think of? (Crew of Nemo's Nautilus and Dark Knight Joker's lackeys spring to mind). What about cases where the presense of such minions is totally irrational because there are no concievable means of maintaining their loyalty and employment?

Update & Shorter Episodes

Hola people.

Rikk's all done working on the ATLHOG album, so he's back at it. Apparently, their prouder left a lot of things undone and the band unhappy with, so Rikk had to step in to try to fix them, on top of doing all the artwork. He's back to work today, however, he'll be gone from August 30th - September 6th for a short tour. At the Left Hand of God's album is completed and sent off, so the big distraction is over with, thankfully. He'll be writing riffs for Memorial Valley Massacre while he's gone, as well.

Also, ICWXP has plans to begin to produce several 15 - 20 min. episodes riffing on shorts in the future, with two host segments. This group of short episodes would be released all together on one DVD.

Why? Well for one thing, to get things done faster and there's lots of talk of pitching the show to some specific networks and the current format is far too long. But don't worry, you can still expect to see full length movie riffing.

As for a release date, I've been forbidden to estimate. But I can tell you that most of the heavy lifting is done as far as I know.

And Beth - your stickers are in the mail. You got the last three we had.
